Our topic this half term is traditional tales. This week we have been learning all about The Gingerbread Man. I have found a story on the internet for you to read. The animals that are in this story are different to the animals in the book we read at school. See if you can type me a message with a list of all the people and animals who chased the gingerbread man in both stories? http://www.topmarks.co.uk/stories/gingerbread4.htm

We are learning all about different people who help us. We have already thought about people who help us at home/school and people who keep us safe. Can you think of 5 people that help us? What do they do?

Book Competition!

We won!
Well done reception i'm really proud of all of you. You all came up with amazing ideas and worked very hard. We created a brilliant topic that all the authors and judges must have been very impressed with.
We are going to have a fantastic day in London at the British Library travelling in a very, very luxury coach.
I and all the other staff going cannot wait to spend the day with you all (not sure i'm looking forward to the getting to school at 5.00am though!!)
WELL DONE AGAIN, from a very proud and happy teacher, Mrs Smith

If you want to know more about what we had to do, there is a little bit of information on this link:

In the computer suite

We have been using building blocks to make towers, bridges and houses on the computers.
It was very tricky when we first started but we are pretty good at it now!

What do you like doing best when we are in the computer suite?

Book competition

At the beginning of the year we entered a competition all about books (Smarties book prize)
We had to decorate a picture of a penguin from a book we read.
We used glue, glitter, paint, material, pencils and all sorts of collage. It was lots of fun (very messy!). Then we posted them off in a big brown envelope with lots of stamps.

This morning when we came back from assembly we found a big parcel on my chair that had a letter in for us to read and lots of new books for us to look at.
It was so exciting to hear we had won the prize for round 1 of the competition with 50 other schools.

We now have to look at the new books this week and decide which is our favourite one. We will do a mini-topic all about it. Just before Christmas we will send off all the work we have done. Only 1 school can win the next prize so fingers crossed!

Well Done class reception. I knew your pictures were fantastic.
